Tatum's Nursery Reveal!

Now it's finally time for the big reveal! I hope you didn't have to wait too too long! (Leslie ;)) While we did a lot for Liam's room, I do feel like a lot more creativity on Paul and my part went into the implementation of the actual room!

We wanted the room to be something she could grow with, that could be and we hope will be somewhat timeless! I started with the color palette of Coral, Gold, White and Grey and obviously got a lot of inspiration from Pinterest and Project Nursery.colorpallette

Gold is totally back in, and hopefully it won't go back out too soon! We had the room painted, from what was previously a dark chocolate color throughout, to three sides white and one charcoal grey accent wall. Once the room was painted, Paul created a to-scale schematic of everything I was envisioning. He placed furniture, lamps and other accents/artwork, and even pre-measured polka-dots on three walls of the room. With Paul's graphic design abilities and my vision, we should come up with an interior decorating firm! It's definitely exciting to take something from concept to reality and be as pleased if not more pleased with the end result.

I wanted to go with a quasi retro 70's feel, and you can definitely see that in the accents in the room. Our fun and unique incorporation of an iconic princess turned out to be something even cooler than we could have initially imagined and is certainly fitting of the hype currently going on with Star Wars! Check out the initial designs!

While the designs are pretty amazing and helped us work through the process more seamlessly, the end result was even cooler than we could have hoped for and we hope you love it as much as we do!

Welcome to Tatum Claire Perdue's domain!

There are so many things we love about her room, but what really makes the room stand out is the awesome graphic we were able to put together for the closet! We used the same system that we used for Liam's room, but created a totally unique style fitting of our little princess! Strong, unique, independent,  fun and so much more!

Liam's Nursery Reveal!

It's been a process... Liam's Room is for all intensive purposes complete and we are ready to share it with the world!

We like to think it's a space for Paul and I to be able to share time together with our little man, so it's definitely a room we can enjoy as "adults" with touches of baby here and there! It was also super important to us that it would be a room he can grow into! We were going for a more modern car/sign feel! And I definitely feel like there is room for more personal touches like pictures of our little man and maybe even more fun car stuff!

So we start with the process with... PAINTING! The room was previously a milk chocolate color and we decided to go with some neutral yet cool colors!

LaimRoom1We purchased the paint at Sherwin Williams, and it turned out awesome! I love the Light French Gray and White Stripes!! We also updated the ceiling fan to a more modern clean feel of stainless steel! Perks of the new fan!? Multiple speeds on a remote and a DIMMER too! YAY!!!

So now for the big reveal!!!

We Did It!!! It's Our Photo Heart!

I've been wanting to do something with our HUGE accent wall in our bedroom for some time now, and to buy art or print large canvas photos for this wall would just cost too much money! I was torn because I wanted to be able to feature images that were meaningful to Paul and I, so I either wanted pictures of us, or photographs Paul has taken.

I found this idea on Pinterest, and fell in love, and was determined to make it happen! I calculated costs for frames, printing prints, and nails to hang everything, and it wasn't bad (about $120.00 total). Now our heart is about 5 ft wide at the widest point and about 3.5 to 4 ft tall from the bottom most point to the highest point. To purchase canvas prints to cover that approximate space, we would need at least two and at Paul's cost it would be a minimum of $300 (not including shipping)! So doing this cool and sentimental design, not only did we save probably $200 or more, we now have a very cool piece of art that is all about US!

From conception to completion, it only took us a few hours, not including the time it takes to purchase the frames and time waiting to get the prints in the mail. We bought the frames at IKEA ($1.99 a piece), and got the cool metallic prints through Paul's Photography Vendor Smugmug. We got a deal b/c Paul is a photographer and was able to get them at cost, but we did splurge a little for the metallic prints, so you could easily do it for as much or less than we did! And Paul, being very meticulous about design laid out the design on our computer with exact measurements. It was great for us to be able to visualize how it would look! He just took a picture of the bedroom and digitally put in frames with pictures so we could measure out how many frames would fit, based on the size of the wall and the 5x7 size I chose! With the upfront work that Paul did, it only took a small amount of time to hang! I think I spent more time putting pictures in the frames than he spent hanging them. Paul was definitely leery about putting 28 holes in the wall, but as you can see, it was totally worth it! It is AWESOME!

And you know what I love most about this!?? It can totally be a living piece of art.... as we get new pictures or grow our family, I can swap out old pictures for new ones. I absolutely love that!
